Dial 911 and request the police and ambulance

 Have your license, registration and health insurance card ready

If you are able, be prepared with your license and registration. When the police arrive, they will want verification of Who You Are, that you are a licensed driver, and that your vehicle is insured. So if you’re able, make sure to have these documents ready for the police when they arrived. It will make things go more smoothly and make the police officers job easier. Also paramedics will want to see your insurance in order to determine what coverage you have and what hospital they should take you. Depending upon the severity of your injuries and the type of insurance you have you may be taken to a hospital that is not in the immediate vicinity.

Take as many notes as possible

When you are in a car accident there’s a good chance that you will be in shock and injured. If you can at the scene take as many notes as possible. Use your phone to do this. Just start recording a video and talk over the video describing everything you saw and everything that occurred. This video might be great evidence to use in a lawsuit against the driver who hit you. The police will also make a report of what happened and we’ll ask you questions relating to that report. You will get a copy of this report later to share with your attorney.
