Fun Things to Do During Summer 2021

Summer is finally here! Especially if you’ve been longing for a respite from COVID winter, this summer likely feels even more special than summers gone by. As such, you probably want to make some plans so that you can make the most of it!

Now that you’re vaccinated, it might feel like the world is your oyster, and so it may be a bit harder than normal to figure out what to do. After all, with so many activities and destinations shut down or hampered due to the pandemic, you probably have a long list of things you’d love to do. If you’re interested in a few ideas to spark your brainstorming process—or are just looking for some activities you may not have thought about yet—keep reading for several fun things to do in 2021.

Try new things.

If you’re someone that loves variety and hated being cooped up in your home during self-quarantine measures, then 2021 should be the year to try new things! Maybe you want to take up a new hobby, or perhaps you’re interested in trying an activity off of your bucket list. For example, if you’ve never used a firearm, maybe you’d be interested in going hunting for some small game like squirrels or rabbits. Or, if the idea of shooting a traditional rifle or other firearm gives you pause, perhaps you’d like to use a pellet gun or air rifle instead.

As the name suggests, pellet rifles are a type of firearm that shoot pellets or BBs at a high velocity using an air pump. The air pump’s PSI is responsible for the velocity at which the pellets or BBs are fired, hence the name air rifle, air gun, pellet gun, or BB gun. If you are planning on trying your hand at an air rifle and taking aim this summer, it’s important to have the right air gun accessories, too. Of course, you’ll want pellets or BBs to serve as ammunition for your air rifle, but it’s also necessary to have some form of personal protection to keep yourself safe. Protective eyewear and even pads and hunting apparel can be accessories worth investing in, as well as backpacks to carry your accessories and spare pellets in.

Take a road trip.

It’s estimated that over 700 million road trips were taken in 2020, but if you were playing it safe and staying at home during the pandemic, 2021 can be your year to take a road trip. The advantage to taking a road trip now is that you can do so fully vaccinated, without having to worry as much about staying in a COVID-19 hot spot.

Especially if you’re planning on staying in an Airbnb or hotel at various stops along the way, taking a road trip can feel much safer in 2021 than it might have in 2020. Even if you’re planning on camping, being vaccinated means that you don’t have to worry about terrifying problems like fecal flume in your campsite’s one public bathroom. This can give you the peace of mind to truly relax and enjoy your summer road trip.

Get outdoors.

One thing the pandemic taught a lot of the world is the importance of getting out into nature. Whether 2020 was the year you had more picnics, picked up gardening, or just took long walks to appreciate your neighborhood, don’t let these sorts of activities fall by the wayside just because you’re vaccinated.

From day trips to local parks to experiences at national parks, hiking, birdwatching, and communing with nature are all just as rewarding in 2021 as they were in 2020. So, get outdoors and appreciate the nature around you!
