When you think of working in an office, what design springs to mind? Do you imagine an open plan layout or is the room split into rows of cubicles? Perhaps the walls are plain with no colour or imagery? Furniture At Work have taken inspiration from the screen for their #OnScreenOffices campaign and turned them into 3D floor plans of offices we recognise from TV and film. In this blog post we’re going to look at some famous offices and the different designs used, and hopefully you can take away some inspiration for your own office.

Fifty Shades of Grey

You’d expect a billionaire’s office to be luxurious and full of expensive items but Christian Grey prefers it to be spacious and sparse. With amazing views of the city as a backdrop, there’s no real need to fill his office with meaningless objects. There’s a large desk and an office chair and no billionaire’s office would be complete without a piece of artwork.

Harry Potter

Split into three levels, Dumbledore’s office is located in one of Hogwart’s towers. The office has portraits of previous Hogwarts headmasters and headmistresses that are displayed proudly on the walls. On the second tier of the office there are huge bookshelves that tower up from the floor to the ceiling. This seems to be the floor that Dumbledore used the most.

The Simpsons

Mr Burns is the richest person in Springfield’s and it shows in the grandness of his office. Based on the top floor of the nuclear power plant, the office is a large, spacious room with a big, tidy desk at the end of it. There are many trap doors within the office that allow Mr Burns to quickly dispose of any guests that he no longer wants around, just by pushing a button on his desk.
